The agent as producer

Brief an agent in the app or from a terminal: it plans the shots, picks the models, generates and assembles the cut.

From October 2025 the apps stopped waiting for a prompt per shot, and from late summer 2026 a frontier model in a terminal could run the whole production. Either way the shape is the same: you write the brief and set the taste; an agent turns it into a shot list, sends each shot to the model that suits it, carries edits across the sequence and assembles the cut. Because the same agents write code, they also build whatever tool the apps lack.

How it works

  1. Write the brief, not the prompts. Script, character sheets and house rules live in a project the agent reads. Morteza Shahrezaye's The Multiplane Camera began as a 1,276-line brief; Claude Code then worked for almost five hours across 2,133 tool calls and 22 agents.
  2. In the app. Runway Agent, Luma Agents, Pika Agents, invideo Agent One, Higgsfield Supercomputer and Google's Flow Agent plan the story, cast and shot list. The first shipping agents came from China: Hailuo Media Agent (October 2025) and Vidu Agent (December 2025).
  3. From a terminal. Vendor MCP servers (fal, Higgsfield, Runway, Pika, Magnific, Kling, ElevenLabs) put most generators one call away for Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, and Blender, Unreal, ComfyUI and DaVinci Resolve 21.1 ship MCP servers of their own.
  4. Route and fan out. Each shot goes to the model that fits it (Runway Workflows, Krea Node Agent, Runway Media Router); an orchestrator hands scenes to sub-agents and compares variants in parallel.
  5. Edit across the sequence. Change one frame and Aleph 2.0 carries it through; talk to the cut turn by turn in Gemini Omni.
  6. Assemble in code, finish in an editor. ffmpeg, Remotion or HyperFrames for the cut and titles, Resolve or Premiere when a person takes over. Dawn Drain's eleven-minute The Long Game came out of Claude Code, the Higgsfield CLI, ElevenLabs and ffmpeg; Theoretically Media remade The Bridge through Runway's MCP in a day and a half.
  7. Build the missing tool. Sam Wasserman's free suite (May–August 2026) covers script breakdown, previs, dailies triage and a Resolve MCP, each app drivable by Claude Code or Codex.
