AIFilmHistory.org is a personal project by Rich Klein: a curated, editorial timeline of AI film and video. What appears here is a matter of selection and opinion, not a complete record. The site is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of the companies, tools or creators it writes about.

You're welcome to browse, watch, share links and quote short passages with attribution, for personal and non-commercial purposes. Please don't scrape or bulk-download the archive, put unreasonable load on the site, try to get around its protections, or present the site or its writing as your own.

Every film, clip and image documented here belongs to its creator or rights holder. Videos play through YouTube, Vimeo and X's own players and are subject to those platforms' terms; the site does not host or copy them. Titles, credits, thumbnails and short excerpts appear as description, commentary and criticism.

The writeups, the selection and the ordering are the site's own work. Feel free to link to any page; please ask before republishing the text wholesale.

If your work is featured and you'd like the entry changed, credited differently or removed, write to support@aifilmhistory.org. I'll deal with it promptly.

When you submit an entry, you confirm that you have the right to share what you send and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights, defame anyone, or contain hateful, misleading or private material. Submitting someone else's work is fine when it's public and you credit them.

You keep ownership of your words. By submitting them you give the site a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free license to edit, condense, publish and display them here. Entries are rewritten in the site's voice more often than not.

This is a personally curated site. I read everything, but I can't promise a reply, a timeline for review, or that a submission will be used, and nothing is owed for one. I may decline, edit or remove any entry at any time.

Artist accounts are by invitation. Keep your login to yourself and you're responsible for what you publish with it. Films you publish appear on your profile and the Films page; the main timeline stays curated. Accounts used for spam, impersonation or infringing material may be suspended.

The site keeps as little as it can. If you submit an entry, I store what you typed: the entry itself, your name and, if you gave one, your X username. No email address is collected with a submission, and nothing you send is sold, shared or added to a mailing list. Artist accounts store a name, email and password hash.

There are no advertising trackers. Page views are counted with Fathom Analytics, a privacy-first service that uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors. The site sets the session cookie it needs to run, keeps ordinary server logs for a short time, and counts video plays without identifying who pressed play. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see the request. Embedded players are governed by their own platforms' privacy policies.

Links to other sites leave this one. They're there for reference and aren't endorsements, and I'm not responsible for what you find on the other end.

This is a spare-time project, provided as is. Dates, credits and details can be wrong, and the site can change or go offline without notice. Corrections are welcome at support@aifilmhistory.org.

To the extent the law allows, the site and its curator aren't liable for any loss or damage arising from using the site, relying on its contents, or following its links.

These terms may change from time to time; the date at the top moves when they do. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
