Wan 3.0

Alibaba launched Wan 3.0 on August 24, one day after closing a $10.2 billion share placement earmarked entirely for AI. The headline is duration: up to 30 continuous seconds in a single pass, double Wan 2.7's ceiling and well past most rivals, so a one-take shot becomes a prompt rather than an edit.

For the open-source crowd this is the uncomfortable part. Wan built its following on downloadable weights that powered a generation of ComfyUI pipelines. Wan 3.0 is API-only: no weights, no technical report, no parameter count. Wan 2.2 remains the last open flagship. The lab that did the most to democratize AI video has, at its most capable, joined the closed tier.
