TZIGANE

Dustin Hollywood

A live-music film for Maurice Ravel's Tzigane, directed by Dustin Hollywood with violinist Maxim Vengerov. Built as an interactive, AI-driven cinematic performance, the film listens to the orchestra in real time and adapts its images, editing and narrative paths to the music, so every screening is a different version of the same work.

The story is a dreamlike dance: the spirit of Jelly d'Arányi, for whom Ravel wrote the piece, appears as a silhouette of light and dust, a second violinist emerges from it, and the world moves from a village celebration into disorientation and an omen. It points AI film somewhere few others went: not a fixed cut, but a film that performs alongside the musicians.
