An Animated Short Made Entirely in Code

Four days after Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, Matt Shumer asked it to make an animated short film entirely in code, and posted the three-minute result: a moonlit coast, a cottage on the cliff, a lighthouse sweeping its beam over the water, drawn and animated without a single image or video model. Every frame is something the model wrote rather than something it generated.

It passed 100,000 views on X in two days and became the reference point for a new trend that week: coding agents making finished animation and motion graphics directly, sometimes with frameworks like Remotion or HyperFrames, sometimes calling image, video and voice models through MCP, with the language model as the animator.
