A frontier model runs the production
Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5 or GPT-6 Astra holds the script and calls every model and tool through MCP, shot by shot.
Since late summer 2026 the director's chair has a terminal in it. A frontier model (Claude Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra) keeps the script, the cast and the rules in a project folder and reaches everything else through MCP: Runway, Kling, Higgsfield, Magnific and ElevenLabs for shots, voices and music, and Blender, Unreal, ComfyUI and DaVinci Resolve on your own machine. It splits the film into scenes, hands them to sub-agents and assembles the cut.

Claude Code edited this entire video in DaVinci Resolve 21.1

Claude Code cuts the retakes, writes the Flow prompts, builds Remotion graphics and assembles the timeline in Resolve.
How it works
- Write the brief, not the prompts. The script, character sheets and house rules live in a folder the agent reads. Morteza Shahrezaye's The Multiplane Camera began as a 1,276-line brief; Claude Code then worked alone for almost five hours, made 2,133 tool calls and ran 22 agents, nine at once.
- Connect the generators. MCP servers from Runway, Higgsfield, Kling, Magnific and fal put the video models one call away, and in September ElevenLabs opened voice, music, image and video generation (over fifty models) to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. mcp.film now lists 157 servers for filmmaking.
- Connect the tools on your machine. Blender shipped an official MCP in April, Unreal Engine 5.8 an experimental one, ComfyUI a local one in August, and on September 8 DaVinci Resolve 21.1 put a native MCP server in Studio that Claude Code and Codex can drive.
- Fan out by scene. The orchestrator hands each scene to a sub-agent, generates variants in parallel and compares them. Imaginative Prompting ran The End Of The Show from one long Claude Code session that dispatched per-scene agents through an HTML dashboard.
- Assemble in code, finish in an editor. ffmpeg, Remotion or HyperFrames for the cut and the titles; Resolve or Premiere when a person takes over. Dawn Drain's The Long Game, eleven minutes and about eighty shots, came out of Claude Code, the Higgsfield CLI, ElevenLabs and ffmpeg. Theoretically Media remade The Bridge through Runway's MCP in a day and a half; the original took a week.
- Or skip the generators. Jakub Hájek's AGAIN is one unbroken shot that Opus 5.5 built, lit, animated and rendered in Unreal by writing Python: an unmodified MetaHuman with about fifty facial controls keyed on each of 4,128 frames, plus the film-stock emulation and the piano score.
