Runway App Studio

Runway

Runway's no-code builder for creative apps: describe the tool you wish existed, refine it in conversation, and App Studio writes, tests and hosts it, with its own interface over Runway's image, video and audio models, including Gen-4.5, Aleph 2.0 and Seedance 2.5. An existing Agent session or Workflow converts into an app in one click, with the prompt, model chain and settings locked so teammates see only the inputs they need. Apps draw on a workspace's Brand Kits, assets and references, the code stays visible, and earlier versions can be restored. It came free with every paid plan, billed to existing credits, and visitors to a shared app pay for their own generations.

The launch set leaned toward production: Character Swap recasts a person in existing footage, Style Out builds character lineups through wardrobe, hair and makeup revisions, Table Read gives each character in a script its own voice before filming, and 3D Camera Control sets camera moves for previz. Among early customers, a film studio built apps for camera fly-throughs from a single location photo and for localizing trailer titles in their original style, and a production company built one for clean background plates that follow the original camera move. A year after Runway's first prebuilt Apps, the pitch changed from using Runway's tools to building your own: a team's approved prompts and pipeline, packaged as software anyone in the workspace can run.
