Project Genie

Google DeepMind

Google DeepMind opened Project Genie, the first public way to use Genie 3, to adult Google AI Ultra subscribers in the US. It is a research prototype in three parts: sketch a world from a text prompt or an image (with Nano Banana Pro), explore it in first or third person, and remix someone else's. Sessions last sixty seconds, a limit Google put down to compute, and the promptable world events shown in Genie 3's August demos were not in it yet. In May 2026 Google added Street View grounding, so a world could start from a real place, and widened access.

There is no export and no API, so for filmmakers it is look development and scouting by screen capture; its importance is that a real-time world model reached the public at all.
