Backrooms Nemoris: It Eats Light (S1E01)

The pilot of Backrooms Nemoris, a new canon built from the original Backrooms concept (the iconic 4chan image) and the first Magnific Originals series. A found-footage horror story set in 1979, in the Soviet era, follows two researchers on a routine expedition into a labyrinthine sector of the Backrooms, where anomalies and signs of earlier occupants turn the mission into a struggle against an unknown entity. It premiered in Toronto and reveals, by its writer's count, about five percent of a puzzle meant to unfold across a ten-episode anthology.

Javi Lopez, who built the original Magnific upscaler, spent six months on it alone and calls it the most complex project of his life, harder than Magnific's first version. The numbers: more than 7,000 generations and twelve hours of video for seventeen minutes of footage, around sixty generations per fifteen seconds, and roughly $20,000 in tokens, on Magnific with Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 for video and Nano Banana Pro and Seedream 5 for references. About sixty percent of the time went into sound, edited in DaVinci Resolve with up to thirteen stereo tracks in a scene. For the next episodes he plans a small team of voice actors, a colorist, 3D VFX artists and a sound designer.
