Salty

Jordan Daniel Chesney

A gritty, flashing-light short built almost entirely from macro shots — extreme close-ups with angles chosen to serve the story rather than show off, in an aesthetic Chesney credits to Gaspar Noé. Produced by CapCut and made in its Creator Studio on Seedance 2.0 at 4K, with an original score by Brendon Moeller. Six weeks after release, Salty won Best AI Short Film at the inaugural nomorefrog AI Film Awards (NAIFA) 2026 Summer Edition, a hybrid Korean festival screened online through the OvAI platform, with winners announced August 20, 2026. It was one of six category awards; Arthur Liew's Milk Tea took the Pink Frog grand prize. Chesney followed the film with something more unusual than a behind-the-scenes: he published every single prompt used to make it, free, on a public Milanote board, and walked through the whole CapCut workflow on YouTube. In a year when finished AI films have gotten polished enough to hide their process, Salty ships with its process attached.
