The biggest image generator finally animates its own stills. Press 'Animate' on any Midjourney image — or drag one in as a start frame — and V1 Video returns four five-second clips, extendable about four seconds at a time out to roughly twenty-one seconds, at 480p and silent, in Automatic or Manual motion modes. Priced at about one image's worth of compute per second of video, Midjourney called it over 25× cheaper than the market. It ships the same month Disney and Universal sue the company — vertical integration and legal jeopardy arriving in the same week. The start-frame factory is now an end-to-end image-to-video tool.
