DeepMind's general-purpose world model. Photorealistic 720p environments rendered in real time at 20-24 fps, generated from a text prompt, controllable on the fly through 'promptable world events,' and consistent for several minutes with memory of interactions up to a minute back. Framed by DeepMind as a stepping stone to AGI and a training ground for embodied agents, but the implication for filmmakers and game makers is more immediate: the line between video model and game engine starts to dissolve. Genie 3 re-emerges as a marquee demo at Google I/O 2026.
