Death Walks Into A Bar
Theoretically Media (Tim Simmons)
A two-and-a-half-minute neo-noir about a hitman whose final contract is Death himself, written and directed by Tim Simmons and generated end to end with Seedance 2.5 on Dreamina — three days after the model went generally available. It's the sequel to Dragon Blue, Simmons's Seedance 2.0 short from March, and the claim he makes for it is narrower and more interesting than the usual capability-demo pitch: not the frames, the acting. Micro-expressions, pauses, the timing of a line reading. "No actors. No set. No cameras," as he puts it — and the thing he says finally happened is that he stopped scanning for glitches and just watched the performances. Performance has been the last honest holdout in generative video; motion, lighting, and consistency all fell first, while faces kept landing in the gap between a still and a person. Simmons, a former Sony Animation insider who has been decoding these tools for creators since 2022, is a credible witness on where that line currently sits. Worth reading with one caveat in view: the film was published as a showcase for Dreamina's Seedance 2.5 rollout, with campaign-tagged links to the platform.
