# SAG-AFTRA Ratifies AI and Digital Replica Terms

Members ratify the 2023 TV/Theatrical contract, locking in the first union-negotiated framework for digital replicas of performers — covering consent, compensation, scope of use, and synthetic-performer disclosure. Together with the WGA's September deal, the contract turns abstract performer-likeness anxiety into bargained law and reshapes how studios can legally use AI-generated faces and voices. After this, every studio AI pilot that involves a performer's image has to answer to language in this contract.
