Meta unveils Movie Gen — a frontier model that generates HD video with synchronized audio and can edit existing footage from natural-language instructions. The release pushes the field past silent shorts into synchronized media and production-style editing language, and within two weeks Meta partners with Blumhouse and filmmakers including Casey Affleck and Aneesh Chaganty to test it. Movie Gen never ships as a consumer product, but it sets the bar competitors have to clear and quietly reframes the race around audio and editability, not just length.
