Robert Zemeckis reunites Tom Hanks and Robin Wright in a Forrest Gump-style decades-spanning drama, using Metaphysic's generative AI face-transformation system to age and de-age the leads on-set in real time. This isn't a viral demo or a creator short — it's a wide theatrical release from a major studio using generative AI directly in the finished image, with the work supervised inside a traditional VFX pipeline. After this, 'AI is in production' stops meaning experimental shorts and starts meaning marquee faces in front of cameras.
