The European Union's AI Act formally enters into force, with a staggered application schedule running through 2026. For generative video, the key piece is Article 50: providers and deployers of synthetic media — text, image, audio, or video — must mark output as artificially generated, and deepfakes must be labeled. It is the first comprehensive cross-border regulatory framework that any AI filmmaker distributing into Europe has to plan around, and the model other regions immediately start comparing themselves to.
